Still Life Drawing

Adult

This class is for adult students willing to learn key skills in drawings of non-living objects, such as proportions, lighting, visual effect and shading. The teacher will demonstrate the techniques step by step. A variety of still life drawing projects, such as flowers, fruits, vegetables, etc. are assigned to provide students with an opportunity to practice their skills independently, and students will be provided with weekly feedback to improve their drawing as much as they can.

Landscape Drawing

Adult

This class is for adult students willing to do artwork whose primary focus is natural scenery. Students can learn how to draw forests, trees, cliffs, rivers, valleys, mountains, etc. in this class. Key skills in focal points, horizon line, elements of space, relationship between elements, composition arrangement, foreground and background are taught in this class. A variety of landscape drawing projects are assigned to provide students with an opportunity to practice their skills independently.

Portrait Drawing

Adult

Our adult students learn how to use their drawing tools to draw portraits in this class. The class helps our students improve their skills in portrait drawing, such as skin tone, texture, facial features, group portrait, and self-portrait will be taught in this class. Students can learn how to draw and present an artistic representation of a person, in which their face and its expression are dominant. In fact, they learn how to display the likeness, personality, and even the mood of the person in their drawings. A variety of portrait drawing projects are assigned to provide students with an opportunity to practice their skills independently.

Watercolour Painting

Adult

This class is for adult students willing to learn how to use watercolors to express their artistic sensibilities. The students learn the basics of watercolor painting to advanced levels based on their current levels and also artistic goals they have.  They learn how to mix watercolor paints to make the right tones and also master brush strokes for painting landscape, portrait, still life, etc. A variety of watercolor painting projects are assigned to provide students with an opportunity to practice their skills independently.

Acrylic Painting

Adult

This class is for adult students who are willing to spark their artistic creativity through acrylic paintings. Acrylic paints are used in this class as the main painting tool, and students have an opportunity to use it for painting portraits, landscapes, still life, etc. A variety of acrylic painting projects are assigned to provide students with an opportunity to practice their skills independently. They also have an opportunity to demonstrate their artwork in the class, which are followed by critiques and constructive feedback from their instructors and peers.

Figure Drawing

The focus of this class is on drawing of the human form in any of its various shapes and postures. Our adult students use their drawing tools to draw human figures ranging from highly detailed, anatomically correct renderings to loose and expressive sketches. They learn how to draw bones, skeleton, muscles, body structure, muscle groups, etc. A variety of figure drawing projects are assigned to provide students with an opportunity to practice their skills independently.

Abstract Painting

Adult

Our adult students learn how to work through artistic projects which explore “Abstract art”. They have an opportunity to have abstract thinking, learn abstract movements, and also review contemporary abstract paintings in Canada. A variety of abstract painting projects are assigned to provide students with an opportunity to practice their skills independently. They also have an opportunity to demonstrate their artwork in the class, which are followed by critiques and constructive feedback from their instructors and peers.

Landscape Painting

Adult

The focus of this class is on paintings of natural sceneries. Students can learn how to paint forests, trees, cliffs, rivers, valleys, mountains, etc. in this class. Students get involved in painting projects in which they depict natural sceneries using the painting skills and tips their teacher provides. They learn how to do simple artworks by using a simple harmony of greens, blues and earthy colors to professional painting projects using complex color compositions. A variety of landscape drawing projects are assigned to provide students with an opportunity to practice their skills independently.

Sculpture

Adult

Our sculpting class helps our adult learners to develop their three-dimensional artwork awareness. Participants in our class learn portraiture sculpting, figure sculpting and free form sculpting. This course will accommodate beginners and also experienced participants who are willing to become professional sculptors in the future. Learners are involved in practical work and receive regular feedback during this sculpting class.

Fashion Design

Adults

Our fashion design class helps our adult learners to learn the key techniques of Fashion Design they need to acquire from concept to finished products and finally the runway. Learners have enough opportunity to explore through the entire process of bringing their ideas to life in different steps including drawing, draping, sewing to computer illustration and pattern-making. For interested learners, the course also provides additional mentorship sessions to help them equip themselves for the business of fashion in GTA. Moreover, students have an opportunity to exhibit their collection in the fashion show events we hold every season at CCSA.

Photography

Adult

This photography class helps our adult learners learn the key concepts of photography, such as Aperture, ISO, Shutter Speed and Exposure Triangle. Practical shooting techniques are taught in this course too. Our adult learners do practical projects using Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Lightroom and do photo editing. Participants have opportunities for hands-on experience to practice the techniques they learn in the program. Moreover, the teacher goes slow and nice so that participants have enough time to practice the techniques they learn in photography. Advanced photography concepts, such as RAW format, Light Metering and Histogram are taught for interested learners who are willing to become professional photographers in the future.

Life Drawing Open Studio

Adults

CCSA offers open life drawing sessions to the adults who are willing to practice life drawing! 

No registration or negotiation is necessary. $20 at the door, or purchase a 5-session pass for $90. Participants need to bring their own art material, be fully vaccinated and wear masks. 5-session passes expire in 2 months from purchase and are not redeemable for cash. 

NOTE: CCSA will be closed and no sessions held on Public Holidays.
