Commonly drawing is known to be a solitary activity, however, the Surrealists imagined ways to create images collaboratively and meditatively as exercises in letting go of control to access the subconscious, achieving unthinkable images. The students worked together to create Exquisite Corpses, a drawing exercise invented in the 1920s by surrealist artists. Coloured pencils and markers were used to add a playful element to the drawings. Suspending the expectation of what the final image should look like, the students were able to experiment and follow their intuition without the constraints of creating in control of depicting a specific character.
